Gear Update

A lot of what we do here at Bruther Monk involves music and video and the creation and sharing if both. Actually, it’s ALL we do. And so naturally a large part of our success relies heavily on our hardware and what we can achieve with that hardware.

I’m proud to announce that we’ve added another crucial component that will allow us to do things we were hitherto capable of.

We now have a dedicated desktop computer for all our editing needs, audio and video. It’s the latest and greatest and fastest and biggest available and we spared no expense.

So make sure you stay tuned because we’re gonna start churning out content like we’ve never been able to before and in true Bruther Monk fashion, it’s going to kick ass!

Cheers 🙂

ITCH REMEDY (SPECIAL EDITION) by CESAR COMANCHE & DJ FLASH

I’m very happy to announce that Bruther Monk Music has partnered up with long-time friend Cesar Comanche on the release of his latest album Itch Remedy: Special Edition

This special edition CD contains golden nuggets not available in the electronic download versions.   So if you’re a fan of real Hip-Hop, make sure you grab yourself a copy because this album is destined to be a classic.

Cesar Comanche and Bruther Monk go as far back as the late 90’s, performing together a handful of times at different venues in the central North Carolina area.  When Bruther Monk disbanded, we lost contact with Cesar and it wasn’t until spring of 2010 that we reconnected again.  I made certain not to lose track of him this time because I knew almost immediately upon seeing him again that this was a guy I wanted to work with.  The thing that distinguishes Cesar in my mind from other artists is not only his tremendous talent but his unyielding tenacity and work ethic – a rare alchemy possessed only by those who have a clear vision of where they want to go and the fortitude to walk a path that most only dream of.

Biography

Born in Jacksonville, NC, Cesar Comanche was introduced to hip-hop by his sister in 1979, and immediately fell in love with it. In 1996, while a student at NC State, Comanche met classmate Pat Douthit, who would later be known as producer 9th Wonder, and soon began working with him. In 1999 the two founded the Justus League Crew, an association of other rappers and producers from NC State and neighboring North Carolina Central University who often collaborated on each other’s projects. Comanche left school during his senior year to concentrate more fully on his music, issuing 2000’s Wooden Nickels and 2002’s Paper Gods on his own Defenders of the Free World label. 2005 saw the release of Squirrel and the Aces (which was taken from the name of his father’s band in the ’60s and ’70s) on ABB Records, also home to underground rap stars Dilated Peoples and Defari.
